On the outside, the club looked pretty seedy, and it was hard to tell whether the small number of cars in the parking lot was a good sign or a bad one. For at least a few of the cars already there - including a limousine with tinted windows and a very sad-looking sports car that still had half of a JUST MARRIED sign affixed to its rear bumper -- it was probably good, but for any Fandom students looking for a positive strip club experience, it was a little harder to tell.

At the door, there was a bouncer checking IDs (or fake IDs, as the case almost universally was with this crowd), and inside... well, inside was a strip club. There was a stage, there were dancers (of multiple genders, even!), there was a breakfast buffet that looked like it served bacon, and there was a bar. And there was glitter. Lots and lots of glitter.

The night was young, the bouncer was easily fooled, and The Silver Glitter Club was open. Enjoy, Fandomites. Or at least try not to pick up any diseases.

"No, that would cost extra," Jessica said. "Well, that's going to be my most inappropriate joke of the night, I hope."

Inappropriate or not, it was funny. Gert snorted.

"Also, since the sucking seems to be mostly affecting us and not other members of our party, pretty sure there'd be some complaints."

There, now she'd been inappropriate too!

"Well, I didn't think you'd go farther than I just did," Jessica noted. "Turns out, you can surprise me. Good to know."

"Yeah," Gert said, looking thoughtful. "...You know when you make a bad joke and then the shame kinda sets in?"

"I don't have that much shame when it comes to bad jokes, so not really," Jessica said.

"Lucky." Sigh. Gert had bad joke shame. She had it so much.

"You have your ability to read through distraction, I have the ability to joke almost constantly and with no internal repercussions. We each have our own special little skills," Jessica noted.

Huh. "Next time someone asks me what powers I have, I'm saying that," Gert decided. "It's a better answer than 'none, so go ask someone else,' don't you think?"

"I approve. After all, not every mutant power has to be useful for superheroing," Jessica said. "Some can just be interesting quirks."

"Yeah, there's gotta be mutants who can just, I don't know, change their hair color back and forth, or spell words really well," Gert said, nodding. "Reading despite being in a glitterfied atmosphere can't be any less legit than that."

"I may not be a biologist specializing in enhanced physiologies yet, but if I had certificates for 'probably a legit mutant,' I'd put your name on one," Jessica said.

"Thanks," Gert said sincerely. Or partly sincerely. There was some degree of sincerity. "Same to you, for your lack of bad joke shame. But I'd add on the certificate that you don't have to go to mutant school to learn to control your powers or anything. Bad joke shame shouldn't be universally required."

"If this counted, forget mutant school. I'd be starting my own Brotherhood," Jessica said. Apparently Gert was from a place that still had mutant school. She was going to go with it rather than explain that people died A LOT in her world. "Call it a Jesterhood, really."

"I'm adding another power to your list," Gert announced. "Really fast improvisation of plans you aren't actually gonna do. Have you ever thought of doing improv?"

"All the world is my improv stage, and all the men and women are shouting out prompts," Jessica said.

Specifically, the streets of New York when there's crime was her stage, but it wasn't hard for her to extrapolate.

"So yes," Gert filled in jokingly. "I can tell because of the pretentious dialogue. No offense."

"I'm fine with it. It's Shakespeare you're offending, and he's a little too dead to care much anyway," Jessica said.

"Eh, I've already offended him a lot this month," Gert said. "He should be used to it from me by now, since the only Shakespeare production I've agreed to go to in years was an ASL one where I couldn't understand a word of it."

"If you wanted to cheat, you could have listened to an audio book version to help you out," Jessica mused.

"Oh, I definitely didn't want to cheat," Gert clarified quickly. "The goal was to get as little out of it as possible. So I succeeded."

"Is that your goal at all live events?" Jessica said, nodding very quickly at the stage.

Gert looked at the book in her lap. "You know, I can see how you'd think so."

She really had no counterargument here.

"I'll be on the lookout for a book at the next school event," Jessica said. "Just to see if it actually is a trend."

"If you do see one, you're welcome to discourage me," Gert said. Because this honestly didn't sound like the best trend.

"I solemnly swear to talk to you until you put it away and are forced to interact," Jessica promised.
